Buffalo’s Good Neighbors (BGN) is at it again. The group has teamed up with Friends Feeding Friends, to help tackle the problem of delivering warm winter clothing to those in need. And they are doing it in the most unusual manner, per usual.
Up until March 1, the community is welcome to donate their unwanted, lovingly worn, winter garments to select drop-off locations (see below).
From there, volunteers take the items to Fireman’s Park, across from ECC campus in Downtown Buffalo. It is there that they take the clothing, which has been zip-locked to protect the winter duds from the elements, and hang it from clothing lines.
The gloves, hats, scarves, etc. are there for the taking. Anyone looking to stay warm can take advantage of the hanging bounty of clothing. It’s a feel good initiative that should be commended and supported to the fullest.
Below is a list of items that are currently being collected for all ages:
-scarves
-gloves
-hats
-face masks
-socks
-hand warmers
-foot warmers
*ziploc bags
*clothes pins
*paper clips
*twine
*plastic grocery bags
The new and gently used apparel is typically hung on Sundays. Anyone who would like to volunteer for the effort is welcome to take part.
