When you think of chili, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Probably not “vegan”. Especially in Wing Country. But Buffalo’s DIY collective has been working to change those sentiments, over the course of the past 14 years.
First of all, can you even believe that Sugar City has been hosting its Annual Vegan Chili Cook-off for 14 years? Most people aren’t aware that the collective is that old! For well over a decade, Sugar City has prided itself on this cook-off, which is always successful in everything from community support to outrageously good vegan chili recipes.
On Saturday February 6th, from 6:00-9:00 pm, Sugar City will be heating things up with flavorful concoctions of chili, prepared by… you, and a friend, and everyone else who feels that he or she can dream up a masterful recipe that will “wow” chili lovers. Guests to the 14th Annual Vegan Chili Cook-off can either:
- Bring a bowl of vegan chili to enter into the contest
- Attend the contest and try out all of the dishes
- Either way, the price of admission is free!
The event is free to attend, and alcohol free to boot. Those who whip up a batch of vegan chili are entered into a contest to win top prizes. Everyone who walks through the door can vote on their favorite concoction. The ballots will be collected at 8pm. The winner will then be announced.
