Buffalo’s start-up community is taking the show on the road in 2016. Thanks to the efforts of a local start-up consortium that includes 43North, Launch NY, Buffalo Niagara Enterprise, the University at Buffalo, Z80 Labs, the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, and the Western New York Innovation Hot Spot, Buffalo will fielding a team at the Launch Pad PITCH competition in New Orleans, Louisiana (April 26-28, 2016). At the competition, Buffalo will go head-to-head against Charleston, SC, Nashville, TN, New Orleans, LA, Pittsburgh, PA, Raleigh-Durham, NC and San Antonio, TX.
An effort such as this would not have been deemed possible a couple of years ago. Today is a different day however, and this city’s gung-ho start-ups are ready to take up the challenge. Starting January 13, the process of selecting the three start-ups to represent Buffalo will begin.
“I’m proud of Buffalo’s startup community for being recognized as one of the United States’ rising ecosystems, said John T. Gavigan, the competition’s city leader for Buffalo and executive director of 43North. “I know the three startups we send to Launch Pad PITCH* will be representative of the high caliber entrepreneurs and business ideas we have here.”
*The Launch Pad PITCH competition is a new element of Collision, an annual international tech conference to be held in New Orleans from April 26-28, 2016.
