It’s about time that somebody organized a Bloody Mary Festival. This is music to my ears, as there’s no better brunch drink on the planet, when made right. And you know what? More often than not the drink is made incorrectly. Not to say that there is one particular way of making a Bloody Mary. It’s just that there are standard rules that apply, and when those rules are disregarded, chances are that you are in for a lame Bloody experience.
It’s interesting that this festival is being announced at the same that Buffalo’s dated Blue Laws are being thrown out of the window (hopefully). Of course we are all still waiting to hear what New York Law Makers will have to say about the proposed Mimosa Resolution, but honestly, who cares about mimosas when there are Bloody Marys on the menu? And now we can thank Step Out Buffalo for creating the inaugural Bloody Mary Fest, as a tribute to the greatest brunch drink of all time.
The festival is based around ten local restaurants and bars that will be competing to see who can create Buffalo’s Best Bloody Mary. There will also be a category for the Best Garnish and the People’s Choice award. Bars and restaurants making an appearance at the festival include Aroma on Bryant, Bar Bill, Ballyhoo, Buffalo Proper, Coles, CRaVing, Hydraulic Hearth, Oshun, Providence Social, and The Lodge.
For those of you who appreciate a good Sunday Funday, this festival assures that it will take that day to an entirely different level.
