Throughout the holidays, numerous Elmwood Avenue merchants are participating in “Petsivus” – a collection effort on behalf of the SPCA. Collection boxes have been places at retail locations, which will be collected and delivered so that dogs and cats throughout WNY will have a happier holiday season. The Petsivus collection drive helps to ensure that dogs and cats that have been abandoned, surrendered, or seized from negligent/abusive owners will get some needed loving from the community.
The Petsivus collection drive has been underway for most of December and will end on the 24th. The idea came about when Halley Marie Shaw decided that she wanted to do something special for pets who were getting the short end of the stick. Halley arranged to deliver the collection box, along with a flyer, to make it as easy as possible for the retailers to participate.
Store owner Grace Hulan (Lavender & Sage Sundries – lead image) took up the cause in order to do her part this holiday season. Grace is joined by a host of other business owners that took the time to think of their four legged friends.
If you are looking to do your part, to deliver a spacial treat to a pet in need, keep an eye out for these boxes. Or visit this Facebook page to see how you can make a difference in other ways, including event drop-offs.
