Plans are underway to spearhead the formation of the Buffalo Niagara Hall of Fame – a museum that would be dedicated to preserving the history of Buffalo sports, media, music and entertainment. The museum would serve to enrich the lives of visitors who would come away with an incredible sense of respect for many celebrities and personalities that helped to build Buffalo’s reputation as an electrifying and highly entertaining city, much of what delivered to the populace through broadcasting.
“Our objective is to give our community a world class tourist destination, focused on Buffalo’s rich history in sports, music, media and entertainment,” said Therese Forton-Barnes, President, Greater Sports Hall of Fame. “To be a year-round destination with educational value bringing school busses, senior tours, families, fans and tourists from across the region, country and Canada to WNY. Buffalo’s Hall of Fame honorees would be featured in entertaining, educational and interactive state of the art displays in a 20,000-50,000 sq. ft. facility housing interactive exhibits, engaging galleries, a theater, a research area, educational and conference space. We are working with Hadley Exhibits to create a facility with interactive exhibits that will keep people coming back again and again. This facility will be unlike any other in Western New York and will complement other Museums in Buffalo, but will be constantly evolving, as history in music, sports and broadcasting is being created every day.”
In order to get the moment for this project going, a Happy Hour is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 15 at RiverWorks. The event is being sponsored by the three entities that comprise the Buffalo Niagara Hall of Fame – Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, Buffalo Music Hall of Fame and Buffalo Broadcasters Association. The Happy Hour will be a real eye opener into the planning that is underway.
