Dreamland and Sugar City are always thinking of ways to get artists to collaborate amongst themselves. Now, the two DIY arts collectives are teaming up to try something a bit different. The two groups will be working together to dream up a sugary show that will pair artists together who have most likely never worked together. The mash-up is being orchestrated through an Artist Lottery.
Visual artists – film-makers, painters, collagers, illustrators, sculptors, ceramicists, textile artists, screen-printers, new media and performance artists – will be paired together in order to see what sort of creations they can produce. The culmination of the exercise will be a group show held at both DIY venues this coming Friday (December 11) from 6pm to 9pm. The show will remain up until the end of December.
So far, the following visual artists have been paired through the lottery:
Megan Luongo and Kat Skellington
Dylan England and Avye Alexandres
Andy Krzystek and Leo Powell
Obsidian B and Sara Burhans
Curtis A. guy and Leonardo Pal
Mickey Harmon and Brian Dickenson
Dabid Koszka and Van Buscko
Cody Hughes and Dana Tyrrell
Jaime Schmidt and Dana Tyrrell
Kevin Cain and Michael Berdine
Kat Stromecki, Rebecca Schwarzberg and Tricia Butski
