After years of talking about this city’s off the chart housing stock, with incredible porches… and more recently striking up a celebrated bi-annual event called Porchfest, I suppose that it’s fitting that Porch.com has ranked Buffalo as the #12 Best Place to Own a Home.
The ranking was recently featured on a number of high profile media sites including Elle Decor, Curbed, and The Washington Post. The #12 position was designated after various livability criteria was considered, such as climate, commute, walkability, resident satisfaction, etc.
“With this survey we wanted to focus on how homeowners perceive their place of residence,” said Senior Vice President and Head of Communications, Craig Cincotta of Porch.com. “Our sentiment based survey is unique, and the insights we have found have provided interesting analysis mirrored alongside external data and current events in each of the 67 metros polled.”
“The Porch survey illustrates there is much more to homeowner satisfaction than square footage and the number of bathrooms. Communities that offer benefits like highly ranked schools, low crime rates and short commutes tend to have higher home values than surrounding neighborhoods,” said Nela Richardson, Redfin chief economist.
Seeing that Buffalo has also nabbed a coveted #1 spot as the hottest construction market in the Northeast (Business First), there appears to be a lot of upside to living and working here these days.
