The Larkin Administration Building: A Model is Completed

The-Larkin-Administration-Building-Buffalo-NY-model-1The Larkin Administration Building might be long gone, but the memory of the building still remains, fueling the imagination of anyone that comes across its images. Demolishing the architectural wonder was a catastrophic loss for this city. There are some who feel that one day, we might actually see the Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece resurrected. There are others who say that there is no chance in hell.

While we might never see the building rebuilt to full scale, there are others who have been put to task, to recreate the iconic building in much smaller sizes over the years, using different materials such as Legos. These projects can be extremely inspiring on their own, especially when the architectural detail of the building is taken into account. Until now however, no one has accomplished a feat of the sort of magnitude that we see here. Upon viewing this work of art, one can almost imagine stepping inside the actual building.

“After a year and a half of research, planning and construction I’ve pretty well finished my model of the Larkin Building,” says the artisan in an email that he sent along earlier today.

Soon I will be paying a visit to this miniature masterpiece, to get the whole story behind this monumental task, and tribute, to one of this city’s lost treasures that continues to haunt us.

This scaled down recreation is a mind blowing accomplishment, and one that should be commended and praised.
