In July of 2014, a historic North Street building, owned by First Amherst Development was demolished. A little more than a year later, a new residential project is in the works, designed by HHL Architects, featuring 40-car parking on the first floor (one car per unit) of the four-storey building. The development will consist of 39 market rate apartment units: 24 two-bedroom and 15 one-bedroom.
The apartments will be in close proximity to the Medical Campus and Allentown. The central location will be one of the driving lease factors for the building.
Regarding the Genrich Building to the right. Hopefully the infill apartment building will bring to light the “at risk” structure, which has had at least one or two opportunities to be developed over the years, yet nothing concrete as we can plainly see.
