Buffalo Roars for Tusks & Horns

Typically, the events that I help to organize focus on Buffalo. In this case, I am part of a group of animal lovers who are very concerned about the illegal poaching of lions, elephants and rhinos. It’s frustrating, because living in a city so far away from where the rampant poaching is occurring, there’s not much to do other than sit back and wait as more travesties to occur. Are you prepared to live in a world without these majestic creatures?

I’m Not.

On October 3, we are mobilizing in Buffalo to host an event that will raise money for anti-poaching relief efforts, on the ground, in countries where these defenseless animals are senselessly being gunned down for reasons that include ivory trade and ego.

Our committee has been working towards hosting a FREE event, where donations are accepted. Throughout the course of the evening, a number of bands will play, each rallying support for the effort. There will be delicious food and craft cocktails too. The venue? On the rooftop of Handlebar @ The Hub.

The event will be held from 6pm to 10pm. Live music will start off playing at the Handlebar Pub on the building’s first floor. From there the fundraiser (donations) will head to the roof, where more bands will be playing, and another bar will be set up.

The bands will be playing for the animals – the rhino, the elephant and the lion. Throughout the course of the evening, supporters of the anti-poaching effort will be able to donate whatever they want (from a dollar on up) the animals. The money will go directly to the people on the ground who are making a difference. We will be rallying behind the effort of Elephants Without Borders. We are also trying to track down a legit rhino group and lion group presently, where the money would make an immediate impact.

^Spirited committee invites you to come drink locally brewed kombucha and help save endangered animals!

In the end, we hope that Buffalo’s animal loving community will step up and support this cause. Not only are we raising crucial funds, we are also raising awareness for the cause. This is not going to be a depressing pity party… rather it will be a way to share news of the successful efforts that are being made currently – efforts that need our help.

Please tell your friends and family about this event. Let them know that we are rallying around the memory of Cecil the lion and friends. We will do everything in our power to combat this world animal crisis. Be the voice for the animals…
