On Sunday October 25, the community is invited to attend and support an event that brings together some of the best female musicians in Buffalo who will be hopping up on the Sportsmens Tavern stage to raise awareness and funds for WNY Breast Resource Center.
The 13th Annual Female Musicians Fighting Breast Cancer benefit was founded by local bass player Ida Goeckel, who is now a two time breast cancer survivor. All of the music acts will be donating their time and talents to this worthy cause – the acts include headliner Grace Stumberg, The Pure Ink and Pulse Poetry poets, veteran blues mama, Donna Rose and Hot Blue Mix, and guitarist Grace Lougen and her band.
All of the funds raised by these talented ladies will go directly to Roswell Park’s WNY Breast Resource Center. It is scary to think that in WNY, out of 100,000 women, upwards of 140 have been diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Today, thanks to relief efforts such as this, there are more options, more treatments, and thankfully fewer cases. But the battle is far from over.
