On Sunday, August 23, 2015, Yelp will be teaming together with The International Institute (IIB), to feature an event that revolves around the tastes of the world. Guests will be able to sample a number of “ethnic-inspired bites” prepared by some of Buffalo’s culinary superstars. The event is free to attend, but guests are encouraged to donate $10, which goes towards the International Institute. Yelp will also match the first $1,000 donated.
Restaurants include: Oshun, La Gourmet Empanadas, Lin Restaurant, Left Bank, Michelle’s Caribbean Cuisine, and Teton Kitchen.
The following local breweries will also be on hand: Community Beer Works, Flying Bison, and Community Beer Works, as well as wine from Chateau Buffalo and pressed juice from Ashker’s Juice Bar.
It’s all part of a whirlwind tour of the various countries that now have closer ties to Buffalo through immigrant and refugee populations. Guests will eat and drink their way through various delicious servings of food, paying homage to the numerous countries that are now heavily represented in Buffalo.
“The IIB does some inspiring work and Yelp is all about connecting people to great local businesses and organizations,” says Senior Community Manager at Yelp, Alexander Levine. “My parents and I came to the US as refugees in 1995 and the service that IIB provides to the refugee community is fantastic and I’d love for more people to be aware of it. We can discover culture through food and what better way than to invite a bunch of Buffalo’s best-rated businesses on Yelp to provide some internationally themed delicious food in their beautiful mansion on Delaware Ave? The public can come and learn more about the IIB as well as some fantastic local businesses. All the food and drinks at the event (including alcoholic beverages) are free and a donation of whatever you can afford is highly encouraged at the door. All guests must RSVP through Yelp via this link in order to receive a party pass for admittance.”
