Uber is in town today, but not for the reasons that you might expect. The transportation network company has teamed up with EA Sports to personally deliver the Madden NFL 16 video game (for Xbox One) directly to your door.
In a surprising move, Uber decided to include the only NFL city without the Uber service – Buffalo – into the one-day-only delivery stunt. The San Francisco-based company went to great measures to ensure that the games would be delivered to Buffalo’s NFL gaming fans. In order to get your free copy of Madden NFL 16 delivered to your door (while they last, and while Uber cars are available). Here’s what you need to do:
- DOWNLOAD the Uber app for iPhone or Android – click here
- TAP the ‘Profile Icon’ on the left and select the PROMOTIONS menu option
- ENTER promo code MADDENBUF to unlock the special “Madden NFL” view
- REQUEST the “Madden NFL” option on the bottom slider in the app
- If a car is available, you’ll be slinging TDs in minutes
I spoke directly to an Uber representative yesterday, who informed me that Buffalonians are looking for Uber, even though the car service is not yet allowed to operate here. She said that within the last thirteen months, 16,500 unique people in this city have already downloaded and opened the app (looking for a ride), in Buffalo. When I asked her what the status was – Uber being allowed to service Buffalo – she said, in a fairly positive voice… “Stay Tuned.”
Currently Uber is not operating in Buffalo. The company has enlisted drivers to deliver the Xbox One video game to fans throughout the city for one day only (today!). After that, it’s business as usual unfortunately.
In a recent DailyMail article, the company stated that it is still working with authorities in cities such as Buffalo in order to lift the bans (see article).
