This past Tuesday, a couple of us stumbled into Handlebar Pub at 149 Swan Street, only to discover that it was Arts and Crafts Night. The night was dreamed up by bartender extraordinaire Adam Rath. He told us that after brainstorming a number of different kitschy ideas, the craft concept stuck. On the night that we rolled in, there were a number of people sitting at the bar working on projects that ranged from boondoggle to building popsicle stick houses.
At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to think of the whole thing, but before long we were sitting at a table on the patio (great new awning), playing around with colorful pipe cleaners. The table next to us was working on a bunch of different crafty creations (inset photo).
Arts and Crafts Night is featured every Tuesday at Handlebar. There is a table located in the far corner of the bar, loaded with all sorts of ‘doohickies’ to choose from, and plenty of glue of course. Feel free to pick up whatever it is that drives your fancy, or bring some of your own bits and pieces to add to the fun.
