On Saturday August 22, 2015, Buffalo Paddlefest will get underway at Gallagher Beach (Buffalo Harbor State Park). On that day, recreational activities and competitions will include participating in kayaking, canoeing, and Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUPs) treks, races, maneuvers, and fitness sessions.
Besides the obvious health benefits that Paddlefest promotes, the event is also conducted to raise environmental awareness for the waterfront, along with its short term and long term stewardship.
This year, Paddlefest will feature two separate courses:
- Gallagher’s Harbor Recreational “FUN” Race
- The Great Wall Long Distance “ELITE” Race
The following divisions will be included:
The Great Wall – 10 Miles
Kayak
Canoe/OC
The Great Wall – 5 Miles
SUP 14′
SUP 12’6
Gallagher’s Harbor – 1 Mile
Kayak
Canoe/OC
SUP Stock (12′ and under)
Throughout the day there will be demonstrations, yoga classes (land and water), lessons, boot camps, barre and paddle fitness, and award ceremonies.

*Swag will be given to the top three winners in each division for both long and short races. Awards will be given to top 3 Male/Female finishers in each division. ALL will receive a medallion at the finishing line.

*Proceeds from the event will benefit the development of an Adaptive Paddling Program through WNY Adaptive Water Sports a 501 (c)(3) local chapter of Disabled Sports USA organized to promote and advocate water recreation for the disabled.
