For Buffalonians looking to get their funk fix or simply a change of pace from the usual night out, Buffalo Iron Works is the place to be tomorrow night.
On Friday, August 21 starting at 5 p.m., Iron Works will host “Funktastic Friday” – a full evening of funk and soul musical entertainment to benefit the Lt. Col. Matt Urban Human Services Center of Western New York.
The event will feature live music from local groups Smackdab and Randle and the Late Night Scandals, plus food, drink specials and giveaways. Admission will be $5 at the door and the event runs until 8 p.m.
In addition to being a fun start to a night out, the event also provides an opportunity to support a local non-profit human services agency working to improve quality of life for residents of Buffalo’s lower East Side. For the past 35 years, the Matt Urban Center has worked to help lift its clients out of poverty by providing services and programming for low-income families and individuals of all ages, including housing, emergency shelter, senior services, crime victims’ assistance, food pantries, an Urban Diner, youth programming and homeless outreach.
Tickets can be purchased at the Buffalo Iron Works website or at the door. For more information about the event, visit the Iron Works event page or contact Alissa Venturini at 893-7222 ext. 401. To learn more about the Matt Urban Center and its services, visit urbanctr.org.
