Vinnie DeRosa Releases First LP

Anyone who has been around the Buffalo live music scene has most likely come across a talented singer guitarist by the name of Vinnie DeRosa. His enthusiasm for his craft is unparalleled, and his smooth style of play is super catchy. Once you’re in the room with Vinnie and his band (Vitamin D), it’s hard to break away (see more).

I recently caught up with Vin, just in time to learn about his upcoming EP release.

VDM-307x307What’s the deal with the EP?

It’s a collection of original songs that I’ve been working on for the last several years. It’s a 5 song EP.

Who is on the EP with you?

The recordings feature some of my favorite players, collaborators, and friends. The songs were written and conceived of at different times over the last decade demos which I brought specific players in to achieve certain sounds and feels I was looking for in performance.

Where was it recorded?

A modern made recording for sure, it has elements that were constructed in two different studio houses. The first is a project studio called the BassTrap, owned and operated by Matthew James Castronova out of the basement of his home. Matt co-produced the first two selections on the release (Hesitate and Courage) and offered his expertise on the bass guitar tracks as well.

The other studio where we recorded the bulk of the EP and mixed and mastered the work, was GCR Audio. The head engineer and studio manager, Justin Rose co-produced the tracks with me and treated me like a brother, guiding me through out the lengthy timeline that it took to become excited to be sharing this material.

What can we expect from the release?

Music has given me an unbelievable extended “family” and this product is highlight of that fact.

What’s next up on your plate?

Next for me is to push this EP with all my might and build up enough steam to record a full length album which would feature material that our fans know and love from our live sets.

Where and when will fans first get a chance to check it out?

The recording I’ll be releasing at Larkinville on July 22nd. The EP will be available in hard copy at my EP release show at Larkinville July 22nd and available on iTunes on July 17th.

Any other upcoming shows?

Next shows are:

Sat. July 11th at Shadow Lounge

Thursday July 16th Canalside, Stevie Wonder Tribute with the BPO

Weds. July 22nd Live at Larkinville
