Open Buffalo is an organization that helps to tackle social and economic injustice issues in this city. Activists within the organization are pulled from its founding member groups – Coalition for Economic Justice (CEJ), People United for Sustainable Housing (PUSH), VOICE Buffalo and Partnership for Public Good (PPG). One of the main goals of Open Buffalo is to draw upon the voices of leaders from disadvantaged communities, who would otherwise not be heard. By creating a diverse organization, with a strong voice and a focused agenda, Open Buffalo seeks to create a level playing field for all citizens.
On July 28, 2015 (11am), Open Buffalo supporters and grassroots activists are invited to attend a Community Cookout and Press Conference, where the organization will share its goals and achievements. Nonprofits, artists, attorneys, colleges, block clubs, and faith-based groups will come together with Open Buffalo and its network of partners. The event will take place at Massachusetts Avenue Park, between Winter and Lawrence Streets.
