On Tuesday, August 4, 2015, Fredrik Gertten, the director of BIKES vs CARS [2015], will be on hand to discuss his documentary film, and the effects that he hopes it will have on our car-crazy world. Each year, special interest groups spend millions and millions of dollars to promote car culture around the world. And who do you think the majority of politicians listen to? Oil tycoons and car manufacturers, or grassroots activists who try to affect change via organized bike rides, rallies and marches?
There will be a Q&A session after the film. Be sure to ride your bike to the event if you can. BreadHive Cooperative Bakery will be serving up fresh soft baked pretzels while they last. After the screening, the group will head to the Hydraulic Hearth in Larkinville for discounted drinks. Cyclists, led by GO Bike Buffalo, will get discounts on drinks.
Did you know that there are one billion cars on the road, and that number is expected to double by 2020?
“Bikes vs Cars depicts a global crisis that we all deep down know we need to talk about: Climate, earth’s resources, cities where the entire surface is consumed by the car. An ever-growing, dirty, noisy traffic chaos.” – WG Film
Now meet the people who are not going to give up on pushing the bike agenda for a safer, cleaner, healthier community.
