On Thursday June 4, 2015, from 5-7pm, Queen City Pop Up will be hosting an event called “reVisit Main Street”. The event is intended to get people to return to Main Street in order to see all of the progress that has been made as of late. “reVISIT Main Street’s goal is to bring awareness to the revitalization of Main Street,” says Alison Dockum (Life & Love Events). “Downtown Buffalo offers boutique shopping as well as local produce and vendors at the Downtown Country Market. The Queen City Pop Up Shop is hosting this Pop Up event, which combines the best of downtown Buffalo and offers people an easy way to check it all out. This event is free and open to the public.”
As a way to draw as many people as possible to 653 Main Street and surrounding businesses, members of the Queen City Pop Up Shop have teamed up with Farm2Curb, to serve up some delicious food, using ingredients that have come straight from local farms. “We are getting the ingredients from the Downtown Country Market,” add Alison. “Sean Kennedy and his wife Naomi, from Farm2Curb, will be selecting the ingredients and creating the dishes at the Hostel – Buffalo Niagara (667 Main Street). The hostel is donating the use of their kitchen for the event.
Following is a list of the people/business donating to the event, which includes a Farm to Table tasting:
Allie Dockum – Life & Love Events, Event Planner
Gina Quadrone – Ginametrical, Graphics and Marketing
Queen City Pop Up – Event Space
John – Hostel Buffalo Niagara, Kitchen Usage
Sean and Naomi Taylor – Farm2Curb, Food Prep and Distribution
Mark Brice – Buffalo Aerial Pictures, Drone images of Main Street during the event
Downtown Country Market – Local Food for tasting
Alison say this about the Farm to Table tasting: “We will prepare a tossed green salad with in-season lettuces and kale from Dave Winters in Orchard Park. There will be tangy salsa, ranch, olive oil and balsamic dressing options. We will also serve homemade bread, apples and cheese. The bread, apples and cheese are from Schwab Farm.”
“Farm2Curb is delighted to participate in this opportunity to re-connect folks to their local and sustainably grown food sources while gaining visibility for the small business renaissance in the Theater District. We envision a strong local economy and ecology while fostering collaboration among public and private sectors.” – Sean Kennedy at Farm2Curb
