On June 6, Project Grant hosted its first community oriented Free Painting Workshop at the Massachusetts Avenue Park on the city’s West Side. A group of participants, ages 12 years and younger, took up the challenge to create a number of still lives. The workshop was led by artist Hope Mora.
Additional participating artists, Christine Heller and Jenna North, will be leading two more workshops, both of which are intended to encourage people to engage the world of hands-on art. These workshops are scheduled to continue throughout the month of June, culminating in an opening reception on Friday, June 28.
Upcoming workshops are:
On June 13, Christine Heller will lead an interactive mural painting workshop that is influenced by the surrounding movements and actions. The mural will be created on a moveable surface, so that it can travel around to various locations throughout Buffalo.
On June 20, Jenna North will lead participants, is a sensory experience of abstract painting, using mixed media. North will create a water inspired setting that will encourage responses to memory, musings, and the aquatic environment.
