GObike Buffalo and Garden Walk Buffalo Niagara are teaming up to present a garden tour by bike on Saturday, June 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Participants will start at Front Park and enjoy a fun and relaxed seven-mile tour of some of Buffalo’s most beautiful (and popular) gardens in and around Allentown, the Cottage District, and the Westside.
Some of the gardens you’ll visit are the colorful garden of a color-blind gardener, an alley driveway garden – planted pretty much the same way a rooftop garden would be planted, Buffalo’s best hellstrip (the area between sidewalk and road), a park-like garden with dozens of creative garden ideas to steal, a fantastic treehouse in an art-filled garden, an apiary (bee hives) on a garage roof, and much, much more.
The homeowners will meet us in each garden and share their stories and answer any questions you have. This is a much more pleasant way to view gardens – as opposed to the busy, crowded garden touring during Garden Walk Buffalo (Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26) when there are actually lines to get into gardens!
A GObike Buffalo guide will lead the tour and answer any questions you might have about their different programs – Community Workshops, Recycle a Bicycle, Bike to Work Survival Guide, Safe Routes to School, Complete Streets, upcoming events, and more.
A box lunch in a community garden will cap off the three-hour tour. Registration (in advance only) is $30, $25 for GObike Buffalo members. Space is limited, so please reserve as early as possible. You can register online.
