You don’t have to be gay to run in the Gay 5K. But you might want to dress appropriately for the run. Each year race participants grab a fabulous outfit, fit for a king or a queen, and take to the streets of Buffalo. Bring your friends, your family, and anyone else who wants to show off a bit, while getting some exercise at the same time. For those unfamiliar with the race route, here is the course:
Certified USATF Course #NY13049JG (click here to download map) – Starting at Delaware and West Chippewa, head south on Delaware to Niagara Square. Exit Niagara Square at Perkins Drive. Continue on South Elmwood to Lower Terrace. Right on Erie Street, and continue to the Light House at the end of Erie Basin Marina. Turn around and return to Franklin Street, then running north to the finish at West Huron. Distance: 5K (3.1 miles)
Now let’s see if we can find those sequin sneakers and booty shorts… you’re going to need ’em in one of the most fantastical, energized runs in all of Buffalo.
