Who would have ever thought that the concept of the pub crawler would be such a hit in Buffalo? Then again. It’s part bike and part pub, so maybe it’s the perfect fit after all.
One year ago, Buffalo didn’t have a pedaling contraption such as this. The city landed its first pub crawler in the fall of 2014. That vehicle is now sponsored by Labatt. Then, a month ago, Consumers launched its own version called the Megacycle, leaving Buffalo with two people powered pedal vehicles.
Not to be outdone, the original pedal pub outfit is in the process of bringing a third pedal pub to Buffalo. The operators have secured RiverWorks as a site that will function as a home base for the pedal tours. “The Riverworks led tour will begin there and guests will get to pick between all the waterfront area bars and restaurants to go to,” said Buffalo Pedal Tours operator Philip Szal. “When the second bike gets to Buffalo at the end of June, we will be having the awnings produced locally, then we plan to be up and operational with that pedal tour by Friday July 10th, tentatively.”
Adding to the momentum, Phil and his partner/dad have also established Rochester Pedal Tours. Yet another pedal pub will soon be launched in that city, which will help to root the Buffalo Pedal Tours company here in Western New York .
