Tonawanda Street Walk

Partners for a Livable Western New York (PFALWNY) is organizing a walk down Tonawanda Street on Saturday, May 16, 2015. The walk is designed to showcase the inherent assets of the community, along with the potential of the street and the neighborhood. “It will be like other walks PFALWNY have done in other parts of the city,” says activist Maggie Gibbons. “A large component of the Tonawanda Street visit will be to illustrate to the residents the strengths of their neighborhood and the qualities they need to protect to increase livability and investment in the neighborhood.”

Attendees to the walk will meet at DePaul Riverside Apartments, 238 Ontario Street at 8:30am. Riverside Apartments (lead image), formerly School #60 on Ontario Street was converted into 68 affordable housing apartments in 2012-13.  The apartments were developed by DePaul Properties, a Rochester based client services company (see BRO).

The walk is sponsored by the River Rock Community Coalition and Spotlight Tonawanda.

After the walk, attendees are invited to gather at the Flying Bison Brewery in Larkinville for a special concert presented by Flying Bison and Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER called “DOWN BY THE RIVER”. The event is a concert, fundraiser for Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper and a release party for the brewery’s newest bottled beer.
