The largest medical education facility under construction in the U.S. is quickly taking shape at Main and High streets. Steel erection at the site of the University at Buffalo’s new School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is underway for floors one through three extending from the Roosevelt apartment building to High Street. Construction on floors four through eight starts this summer.
Construction has reached the point where the Allen Medical Campus Metro Rail Station can safely be reopened to service tomorrow, May 18. It was closed April 20, as a result of ongoing construction taking place at the rail station, which rendered it inoperable.
As the project continues to moves forward, the contractor has notified the NFTA that an additional closing will be required in mid-June for approximately 17 days.
The $375 million, 540,000 sq. ft. complex is expected to open in Fall 2016. LPCiminelli is general contractor and HOK is project architect.
