While walking down Maryland Avenue earlier today I came across a rather unusual front lawn. I stopped to take a closer look and struck up a conversation with the owner of the house, who happened to be sitting on his front porch. I told him that I thought that his yard design was quite interesting, and he shared with me that it was a message to The City. “I bought the vacant house three years ago, putting it back on the tax rolls,” the owner told me. “I began to fix it up and was cited by The City for an overgrown lawn. So I decided to replace the lawn with stones.”
According to a neighbor, the owner recently refreshed the message with bright new stones. “It’s a work in progress,” said the owner. “Some of the neighbors love it, and others are offended.”
