At this point there is no way of telling exactly what the future of the Outer Harbor beholds. At the same time, there is an effort underway that would at least create some programming initiatives, in order to further activate the various sites along the Outer Harbor, including Buffalo Lighthouse, Times Beach Nature Preserve, Wilkeson Pointe, Funtime After Dark Event Grounds, Greenbelt Pathway, Bell Slip and Tifft Nature Preserve.
At this time, Arts Services Initiative, at the behest of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC), is making $37,500 available for interested non-profit parties looking to developing programming. Individual grants as high as $5000 are anticipated to be disseminated for the 2015 summer season.
The grants require that:
- A match (cash or in-kind) of 50 percent or more is required
- Applications for amounts greater than $3,500 are only available for multi-program series or large scale events
The Season: The 2015 Outer Harbor Programming Season runs from May 23 to September 7.
Below are additional requirements that must be adhered to in order to apply for the grants:
Eligibility: Grants are available for qualified non-profit organizations and similarly qualified groups or individuals with specific expertise in events and programming.
Types of programming can include: Recreational activities, Educational programming, Waterside opportunities, Arts and cultural programs
