There is nothing easy about the art of Ikebana (assembling zen-like Japanese flower arrangements). Those who excel in the art of Ikebana have years of experience. It’s fairly rare to see these types of simplistic-yet-complex floral arrangements around Buffalo, probably because it’s not the type of pastime that is readily taught or demonstrated throughout the city.
As part of a new undertaking Ró (furniture store) is teaming up with the Japan Culture Center of WNY and SATO Restaurant to create a Japanese inspired roaming event that starts with an Ikebana class at Ró, and winds up at a saké tasting across the street at SATO Restaurant.
The event is an immersion into Japanese culture, and is sure to offer up many of life’s wonders in the form of an aesthetic appreciation of nature and the wonderful essence of saké (a nectar of the gods).
Proceeds from the event will benefit Japanese Gardens of Buffalo and The Cherry Blossom Festival.
