Each year the preservation community steps up to create and deliver Valentine’s cards to unloved and unwanted buildings all over Buffalo. The act of Heart Bombing was brainstormed in Buffalo, and has since spread to other cities across the US in no time flat (Philly, Omaha, STL, Cleveland and Minneapolis).
Buffalo’s Young Preservationists came up with idea to bring needed attention to targeted neglected buildings in hopes that the owners would have a change of heart and fix them up, or sell them to people who have the desire and the resources to do so. You can learn more about the effort from BYP’s Bernice Radle (watch the following TEDx video):
On Saturday, February 7, 2015, the preservation community is coming together to create paper Valentines cards that will then be adhered to the facades of various distressed buildings throughout the city (10am – 1pm). Volunteers will be meeting at 128 Fargo Avenue (a creative café space).
Volunteers are asked to bring some crafty items that can be used to construct the oversized cards. Snacks and coffee will be provided!
