At some point in everyone’s life, the question of dance lessons is raised. It could be early on for prom season, or it could be later in life at wedding.
From the box step to tap dancing, there are many different dance forms that appeal to people for one reason or another. The Argentinian tango is a type of dance that appeals to romantics, who are looking to express themselves in ways that other dance styles just can’t manage to do. Watching a couple tango stepping is mesmerizing. There’s something about the way that the legs and the bodies move, as if effortlessly gliding past each other. Tango is a form of communication that, while not as structured as other dances, demands that partners be in sync with each other’s emotions, which are fueled by the music.
If the thought of tango dancing appeals to you, why not try out a beginner’s class with instructor Travis Widrick? The classes will be held at Ashker’s Juice Bar on Elmwood Avenue, starting this Tuesday.
