The Toronto Star has a great piece on Buffalo’s comeback. Travel writer Owen Roberts points out all of the reasons that Torontonians might have passed by the city on their way to the mall a short time ago, and how that is beginning to change. The more positive press that we get from Canadian news sources, the better our urban economy will fare. The more that we let the cat out of the bag, the better the buzz will be – Larkinville, The Transportation Museum, HarborCenter.
In the article, Roberts shines a light on the waterfront developments, the brewery scene, the hotels, and the general upbeat vibe in the city. Now if we could only get a concentration of retail in the city, wouldn’t that be great? One commentor on BRO yesterday mentioned that he hoped that HarborCenter would include some much needed retailers into the commercial mix. That would be a great place to start considering the density of people that congregate within close proximity, Metro Rail access, synergy with restaurants, etc.
Read what Roberts has to say about Buffalo, and then put on your developer’s hat. What’s the next step to draw more Canadians to the heart of the city?
