A proposed retail project on Niagara Street anchored by Tim Hortons was tabled by the Buffalo Planning Board yesterday. Ellicott Development’s proposal for a 4,600 sq.ft. retail building at 1088 Niagara Street was panned during public comment and by Planning Board members.
From a Buffalo Rising regular who emailed us the rundown on yesterday morning’s meeting:
I went to the Planning Board meeting today for the Niagara Street Tim Hortons. There were about 12 people that commented in strong opposition to the project. Nobody was in favor of it. Cynthia Schwartz from the Planning Board said it was a terrible project. The project was tabled for two weeks. Ellicott Development was encouraged to work with the neighborhood to design a better project.
I don’t know how they are going to achieve on that. Ellicott representatives argued that if the project is redesigned to the property edge along Albany and Niagara streets that the primary tenant (Tim Hortons) would back out of the project, thus no project.
