As the eyes of the world are upon Buffalo, many Buffalonians are preparing for the Turkey Trot. By the time the race rolls around, runners will be happy to be set free to participate in the oldest consecutively run race in America. And guess what? Buffalo is going to keep the track record going for what is now the 119th Annual YMCA 8K Turkey Trot.
The race is designed for everyone, no matter the age or the ability. Walk it or run it – either way it’s a seasonal blast. Some use the race as a reason to get together with friends and family. Others love to party before and after the race (post party at the Convention Center with family-friendly post-party at Statler City). Still others love the exhilaration of running on Thanksgiving morning, before they gobble up a feast later in the day. There’s even a costume contest before the race (at the Convention Center), so get your favorite holiday attire ready to roll.
