The lobby of the Hotel @ The Lafayette will soon feature offerings from Public Espresso + Coffee. After initially setting up a limited coffee kiosk, the hotel has decided to take a broader approach to its coffee offerings. Public Espresso plans on making the lobby of the hotel a real treat for hotel quests, while creating a café destination for others in the downtown area. In order to do that, they are planning on featuring a more rounded café experience, with pour over coffees, espresso and all of the other coffee-related treats that Buffalonians have come to love.
Along with an upgraded coffee experience, Public Espresso is also bringing along BreadHive Bakery for the ride. That means that visitors will be treated to some of the freshest baked goods around, ranging from bagels to pretzels to “breakfasty” type foods. It was developer Rocco Termini who first said that he wanted to “amp up” the lobby experience at the hotel. A short term coffee stand fix has now led to a plan that features full espresso and coffee equipment, and other kitchen accessories required to host the offerings.
“We’re beyond excited to be a part of the Hotel @ The Lafayette and the downtown atmosphere,” says Sam Scarcello, co-founder of Public Espresso. “Farmers markets have only allowed us to show a portion of what we’re aiming to do with coffee, so we can’t wait to bring our concept to life with a full coffee and espresso menu.”
As Public Espresso continues to build out its permanent Grant Street roasters location, the hotel will offer the perfect place to have a “special residency” in the interim. The full drink and food menu is just what Public has been looking for, to diversify from the temporary farmers markets and events that it has become accustomed to.
Public Espresso + Coffee will be up and operational within the hotel on January 1, 2015. Stay tuned for hours of operation and further details on Facebook.
