The Benchmark Group’s infill project at 766 Elmwood Avenue is underway. The three-story mixed-use building with retail space along Elmwood, 24 apartments on the upper floors, and parking for 25 cars, is being constructed on what was a surface parking lot located between Globe Market and 7-11. Karl Frizlen is project architect and R&P Oak Hill is managing the construction.
Amherst-based, Benchmark owns a number of area commercial and residential properties, including the Stuyvesant Plaza on Elmwood at North and the retail building housing Spot Coffee, Panera Bread, and Agave across from the site at 765 Elmwood. In September, Benchmark was selected by the City to acquire the Market Arcade Cinema complex. Benchmark will be working with AMC Theaters on a $9 million makeover of the Theater District complex.
