For years Geoff Schutte has been hosting an International Thanksgiving Toast. The idea for the toast started twelve years ago, when Geoff found himself away from friends and family, living in Thailand. Today the tradition continues and is growing each year.
On Thanksgiving Day, Geoff is asking that you stop what you are doing at 7pm EST. Put the turkey leg and the remote clicker down, and pick up a glass filled with your beverage of choice. Raise it to the air and toast your friends and family around you, and especially those who you could not be with. If you feel inclined, try the ceremony with a simultaneous phone call, Skype, IM, etc. Also, take a selfie, or a group photo and share it with the people you love.
“Last year, friends from over 20 countries and 30 states raised their glasses in unison,” says Geoff. “We hope you will join us again this year! If you think of it, post to the Facebook group a picture of your group!”
International Thanksgiving Toast – 7pm EST (4pm on the West Coast; 5:45am on Friday in Kathmandu; 7am in Bangkok).
