Redevelopment of The Salvation Army properties along Main Street at the edge of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus is off the table for now. The non-profit organization had been entertaining the possibility of selling its properties and relocating if a lucrative deal could be reached with a developer. The following is a press release from The Salvation Army:
The Salvation Army has been engaged over the last two years, in a extensive discovery process to determine if repeated interest by developers in our 960 Main Street ministry complex is significant enough to warrant consideration for relocation. In the latter stage of this process, LPCiminelli was determined to have the best proposal for consideration in regards to locations and opportunities.
After great discussion and analysis, it has been determined by The Salvation Army leadership and the local Advisory Board, that it is not in the best interest of The Salvation Army, and most importantly the individuals and families we serve, to relocate. As a matter of stewardship, The Salvation Army will continue to remain open to opportunities that may arise in the future.”
The Salvation Army has been a vital link within Western New York’s human services network since 1884. It provides individuals, regardless of age, gender, education, ethnicity or religion with basic human needs including food, clothing and shelter, as well as social and spiritual support.
