‘made by anatomy’ Indie Designer Trunk Show

Everyone loves a trunk show. Especially when the event promotes local designers who are in the process of drumming up local and national attention. That’s what’s happening at ‘made by anatomy’ in downtown Buffalo. Local designer Ali Eagen is hosting the trunk show at her Indie design boutique inside The Hotel at The Lafayette, through October, 19, 2014.

Eagen launched a new line of alternative wedding dresses this past April, and since that time she has been busy showcasing the line at bridal shows across the US. The line also debuted on, which in turn sparked a number of additional sales in the US, the UK, Australia and Switzerland.

“It was extremely exciting to learn that a bride on the other side of the world wanted to wear my dress on her wedding day!” Eagen exclaims, upon receiving her first online order. “Etsy has opened up a whole new world for small businesses. Through this community of like-minded artisans and events like The NotWedding, I have fully embraced the ‘indie spirit’ and realized the importance of supporting one other.”

The recent success prompted Eagen to reach out to other local wedding designers to create an Indie Designer Trunk Show, which is now open. Not only can visitors check out Eagen’s line of unique wedding dresses, they can also shop around for unique designs from myriad designers in Buffalo, many of whom are transplants to this city. “Most of the designers that I connected with are just starting to branch out themselves,” Eagen explains. “The designers hail from Seattle, Washington, San Carlos, California, Vancouver, British Columbia and our neighbors, Rochester, NY.”

Many of the silhouettes on display can be customized, and all garments are made to order, thus ensuring that each dress is one of a kind. “It is my hope to continue this concept in my shop,” states Eagen, “so that I can continue to grow my business here locally but also those of the indie designers like myself.”

Garments range from $600 to $3,000 and made to order. Alterations can be conducted on site by anatomy.

Appointments are encouraged, and hours are posted on anatomy’s Facebook page.
