It’s amazing what you can do with a few shipping containers these days. Developer Rocco Termini is in the process of finishing up his latest project – a restaurant called Dog é Style that takes advantage of the double decker shipping container look, and if you ask me, it looks pretty sweet.
The building does a good job of sticking out, while at the same time it fits in well with its older counterparts. This is the type of infill that we should be seeing more of in Buffalo. The building looks sharp, creates needed density, and adds some vibrant color to Downtown Buffalo. I also like the double level, with places to eat on the second floor while looking out over the street. Of course the signage, featuring the Dog é Style mascot, is also eye-catching.
It would be great to see some windows added to the Scherer Furniture store next door. The first floor looks nice and welcoming, but the boarded up windows up top look a bit foreboding (and “old Buffalo”).
The single-storey Sienna building at the corner has been spruced up (see here), and will hopefully land a new tenant in the future, especially with all of the buzz that Dog é Style is sure to generate.
