Pausa Art House continues to do a smashing job by bringing the local art world to the music club. Often times non-traditional art venues can get a bit stagnant. What I mean by this is, it can be tough to keep things fresh when it’s not the primary focus. In Pausa’s case, their primary focus is on being a live music venue. At the same time, they have managed to keep a close eye on the revolving art shows – the caliber of artists is impressive, and they routinely bring in new talents. For those who attend Pausa for the music, it’s hard to escape the stunning works of art that grace the walls.
Next up in Pausa’s exhibit line-up is self taught artist Matthew Palmo, a painter who has taken the use of color to another level, and somehow managed to keep it cohesive at the same time. A former resident artist at redfish Art Studio in East Aurora, Matthew’s use of color in his landscapes is otherworldly, layered with brilliant points of light that are both familiar and foreign. The layered brushstrokes produce frenzied, yet somehow calming imagery that draws the viewer in, closer and closer, to see the fascinating creations as they unfold in front of us.
