Westminster Economic Development Initiative (WEDI), the organization that brought us the West Side Bazaar, is opening an office at 436 Grant Street (corner of Bird). The move will put the organization directly in the heart of the community that it has been doing so much for as of late. It was with the funding help of the John R. Oishei Foundation, the WNY Foundation, and the Josephine Goodyear Foundation, that WEDI was also able to hire a full time professional staff that will be able to continue on with the mission of revitalizing Buffalo’s West Side.
If you consider the impact that WEDI has had on West Side refugees, immigrants and residents, since the organization first committed educational and economic resources to the area in 2007, the news of a permanent office is a great sign that the work will not only continue but will be enhanced.
On Wednesday, August 20, 2104, WEDI will be hosting an open house at 436 Grant Street from 3:00-7:00 pm. Residents are welcome to come learn about the organization’s programming, as well as hear about the future of the organization and the missions at hand.
Volunteers at the open house will serve hamburgers, hot dogs and other foods from the West Side Bazaar. A Grand Opening dedication will be held at 5:30. There will be self-guided tours. Presentations of the various WEDI programs will be available for viewing. Learn more at www.wedibuffalo.org.
