Sabres Street Hockeyfest

Every summer young hockey players take to the streets surrounding the First Niagara Center, to battle it out at Sabres Street Hockeyfest. Sponsored by Great Skate, this tournament is now in its thirteenth year, and takes place on Sunday, August 3.

Due to the construction surrounding the arena, the scheduled play will relocated to the parking lots between Mississippi and Columbia streets (across from Lagerhaus 95 restaurant). After reading some of the comments from the fans of the tournament, I see that there are a number of requests that are being made that include:

  • Bring Sabretooth to the festival
  • Bring some of the Buffalo Sabres’ players to the festival for autograph signing
  • Bring back the adult division

Sabresfest (3-on-3 with goalie and one optional sub) is open to girls and boys, ages 17 years and younger. Registration for this year’s tournament ended on August 15. To see all of the details of the tournament, click here.
