Inaugural UHAA Integrated Arts Event

The University Heights Arts Association has announced that it will be hosting an integrated arts event that will feature a wide array of artists doing what artists do best. On Saturday, August 16, 2014, the streets in the University District will come alive with the sounds of live music and the colors of plein air painters. There will be artists painting, poets reading, sculptures on display, and a time capsule will be filled with various artistic creations.

The venues where the artists will be performing are not your typical galleries and studios. Rather they will be performing and showing at parking lots, businesses, sidewalks and street corners, in order to bring a vibrancy to the entire district.

According to event organizers, the arts event complements the already successful University Heights Arts Association Arts Crawl that takes place throughout the year. Artists spend time drawing attention to their works by incorporating pieces into the community’s businesses and public spaces. This inaugural arts event will help to draw attention to the artwork, as well as to the artists who have already been demonstrating their works on Bailey, Main Street, etc.

Highlights of the arts event will include performers, interactive visual art components, filmmakers, actors, children’s art activities, food art, natural crafts and a number of community organizations – more than 100 artists total will be included.
