When elementary teacher Chelsea Kelly decided to quit her job to pursue a career in the art of burlesque dancing, she never expected the transition to catapult her into heading up the largest professional burlesque production company in Buffalo.
The began simply enough in 2005, by initially opening a pole dancing fitness studio on Hertel called Pole Play. From there Chelsea was inspired to create Eye Candy Burlesque after a trip to Las Vegas where she encountered the Pussy Cat Dolls Burlesque show.
In 2010, as the production company continued to grow, the burlesque group incorporated local band Kickstart Rumble into the mix – a move that helped to gel Buffalo’s only Las Vegas style burlesque show, featuring 10 dancing girls, an emcee, and a 5-piece live band.
Recently the burlesque troupe has been performing at The Tralf in Downtown Buffalo. The seasonal shows have proved to be a big hit, filling up the seats with fans who come to see the cheeky dance routines. Here’s a video from the last show at The Tralf…
