“Mike A” at The Lafayette is rebranding its concept into a restaurant that is now called Bourbon and Butter. The change will bring about an updated look, style and menu. In fact, Bourbon and Butter will be located in the art deco bar area, and Mike A’s will still exist as a catering component of the operation (private parties, small celebrations, as well as corporate functions and meetings of up to 150 people).
With an relative onslaught of progressive new restaurants opening in the city, catering towards a crowd of people who are looking for inspiring concepts, ranging from prix fixe menus to prohibition-era cocktails to small plates and charcuterie, some operators are re-examining the way that they are doing business.
The direction that Bourbon and Butter will take, will see a departure from the traditional dining experience – there will be an emphasis on smaller plates that can be easily shared. This will give diners the chance to try a number of seasonal items, that can be paired with cocktails, wines and craft beers. The new direction is also an affordable approach for diners who might not be looking at sitting down and eating a full three course meal. The idea is to have something for everyone, while creating a social, relaxed yet sophisticated dining and cocktailing environment in one of the city’s most coveted refurbished buildings – The Lafayette Hotel.
“These days, the Buffalo diner wants excitement, they want to try a lot of different things, and we intend to provide that in a luxurious way that is approachable and accessible to everyone who comes through our doors,” says owner Mike Andrzejewski, who also operates SeaBar, Tappo and Cantina Loco.
Bourbon and Butter will be introducing guests to the new concept as early as Thursday. Changes such as cushioned bar stools, and upholstered banquette seating, along with full table service will change the way that people look at the bar/restaurant experience. An emphasis will be put on mall batch and single-barrel bourbons, as well as scotches and whiskeys.
Bourbon & Butter’s grand opening celebration will be on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 7–9pm.
