Photographer Joe Cascio has passed along his own shots that he refers to as “It’s a Small World” or “Little Planets”. Joe shot a wide range of Buffalo destinations including the Botanical Gardens and Roosevelt Square. He even managed to get a great image of the Central Terminal during Dyngus Day festivities (lead image). You can find Joe Cascio by visiting his website.
As for the process, Joe tells me, It has to be a complete 180×360 image which can consist of as little as two images and as many as a couple thousand, most of mine are as little as 4 and up to 120 images. So this image (see here) becomes this image (see here). It’s the same image – the program wraps it, but what it is doing is taking the horizon line and wrapping it in on itself, so that everything below the line becomes the center “little planet” and everything above is what sticks out. I first started seeing them in 2008 and started to follow that new twist…”
