Breaking a world record is a great way to get exposure for a group or business. As of late Buffalonians have broken a few records. There was the World’s Largest Ice Maze (see here), and then the lowest limbo (see here), and the largest French fry (more than once), among others.
Now Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Arts Center is setting out to break yet another world record – the longest Video-Jockey (VJ) performance. The feat is in honor of the organization’s 30 year anniversary. The mission is to have one VJ perform for 30 hours straight – the current record is 25 hours.
Squeaky Wheel board member and award-winning media artist, Brian Milbrand feels that he is up to the challenge and will be attempting the record on September 19, 2014. If/when accomplished, the effort will be officially recognized by Guinness World Records. Leading up to the big day, Squeaky Wheel is asking for the public’s support and participation. Here are the details:
Video and Sound/Music Artists: We are looking for audio and video clips that may be included in the multimedia mix Milbrand will create. If you would like your music or video work featured, please send downloadable links to firstname.lastname@example.org. Video clips must be Quicktime Movies with NTSC or NTSC anamorphic codec, any length but must be a single shot (no cuts!). Audio files can be wav, aif or mp3 files. By donating works, you will be featured in the playlist that made history!
Supporters of the Arts: There is a fundraising component to this event. Supporters can pledge a dollar amount per hour or make a flat contribution for this effort. Local organizations can also sponsor this event in exchange for on-screen advertisements or product tastings (coffee, tea, energy drinks, beer, wine, chocolate). Contact email@example.com for more details!
Event Witnesses: Witnesses are integral to this event. ANYONE is welcome to stop by between the event times, which will take place between 4:00pm on Saturday, September 19 and 11:59pm on Sunday, September 20. Witnesses are needed all hours. There will be a schedule of events occurring within the record-breaking event (for example: Kick-off party, Sunday Morning Yoga, Contact Improv Meetups). All witnesses will be recorded as being part of this record-breaking moment!
Event Volunteers: In addition to witnesses, many volunteers will be needed to hep accomplish this feat. Volunteers will take place in shifts. If this appeals to you, compose an email with ‘30 on 30 Volunteer’ in the subject header and send to firstname.lastname@example.org.
