What if I told you that all you had to do to support the fight against cancer was attend a music festival down on the waterfront? Really!
On August 9, 2014 from 12PM until 10 PM, twelve bands will “sing out against cancer” at Canalside. The event is called Concert for a Cure, and came about when John P. McGowan lost his battle with cancer at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. “I wanted to pay tribute to my father and give back to Roswell”, explains son Corey McGowan. “My father’s wish was to one day be able to personally support Roswell Park for all that they do. Unfortunately my father never lived to see that day so this is a wish my family and I are proud to fulfill for him”.
Featured acts include Black Widow, Busted Stuff, Strictly Hip, The Informers, Route 66, The Heritage, Tom Sartori, Randle & the Late Night Scandal, Up the Ante and Leon and the Fork Lifts.
On that day ten restaurants will be on-hand to feed the hungry crowd. There will also be kids activities, an artisan market, and a beer tent. All proceeds raised will go to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
